Members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus to Don Pink and Protest Trump’s Betrayal of Women and Families at Joint Address

March 4, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — TODAY, Tuesday, March 4, the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) announced dozens of members will wear pink and focus on Trump’s betrayal of America’s women in favor of billionaires in their rebuttal to President Trump’s Joint Address tonight. Many members will also bring guests directly impacted by Trump and Republicans’ betrayal of women and families.

“Pink is a color of power and protest and we’re pissed off. We stand united in our fury at how Trump and Republicans are harming women and families at every turn to give tax breaks to billionaires. Everything Trump has done has raised costs for America’s women. Tariffs on Mexico and Canada will increase grocery and utility bills. When Trump cuts funding for women’s health research and domestic violence survivors, women and children will suffer and die. The Trump-endorsed Republican budget opened the door to cut hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs women, babies and families need to stay healthy. Trump’s firings, including firings of women veterans, generals, and admirals, and those at the Social Security Administration, will harm women’s ability to provide for their families and federal programs we all use. It's important that Trump, my Republican colleagues, and the nation understand the pain that he is inflicting on America’s women and families,” said Democratic Women’s Caucus Chair Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03).

The Democratic Women’s Caucus is united in our mission to improve the living conditions of women and girls across the country,” said Democratic Women’s Caucus Vice Chair Emilia Sykes (OH-13). “Whatever we wear, our caucus is uniform in our mission. We want to lower costs for families in this country and make life more affordable. I’ve always maintained that I’ll work with anyone who is willing to help lower costs and improve opportunity. Unfortunately, most of what we’ve seen come out of the White House in the first 6 weeks of this administration is not meeting the needs of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District and the cost of gas, groceries, housing, and healthcare remain too high.”

"We're standing together in pink—the color of the Women’s March, the color of persistence—as we continue to fight for our rights. This is a movement by, for, and about women," said Democratic Women’s Caucus Vice Chair Hillary Scholten (MI-03). "Women and families are being squeezed from every direction. We can’t afford rising costs, we can’t afford attacks on our health care, and we can’t afford the discrimination and setbacks coming from Trump and Musk. We’re making it clear that we see what’s happening, and we’re not backing down. Women drive this economy, we keep our families and communities afloat, and we deserve better than policies that put billionaires ahead of everyday people."
