Pam Bondi’s Ousting Doesn’t Get Her Off the Hook Says DWC Chair, We Demand Accountability for Survivors

WASHINGTON, D.C. —Today, April 2, 2026, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Chair Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03) released the following statement on Trump’s firing of Attorney General Pam Bondi:

“Pam Bondi consistently failed women across the country during her time as Attorney General—including through her egregious cover-up of the Epstein files and disrespect for survivors. Bondi continuously shielded perpetrators while she exposed, scrutinized and haunted survivors at every turn. We will never forget her inhumane treatment of survivors—including her failure to recognize, apologize, or even look at them when these brave women stood feet behind her on Capitol Hill.

Bondi may be out as Attorney General, but she is still legally obligated to appear before the Oversight Committee to answer for her mishandling of the Epstein files.

If President Trump thinks that firing Pam Bondi will help him avoid accountability for his involvement in sexual abuse of women or children and sweep it under the rug, he is wrong. The Epstein files released already show damning evidence of Trump’s culpability. Americans deserve to have ALL the files released. Survivors deserve thorough investigations into all allegations. We are tired of the rich and powerful believing they are above the law, and can avoid accountability."

Background:

The Democratic Women’s Caucus has continuously called for Pam Bondi’s Department of Justice to release the complete Epstein files in a way that centers survivors.

Members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus have stood with survivors through the endorsement of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, by holding multiple meetings and events with survivors, hosting survivors for Trump’s State of the Union, and questioning Attorney General Bondi in hearings and letters.

The Democratic Women’s Caucus also affirmed our support for survivors and victims of sexual abuse through the release of our Legislative Safety Slate
