WASHINGTON, D.C. —On Tuesday, January 13, the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC), led by Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), met with military sexual assault survivors in Washington, D.C. At the meeting, DWC members heard the heartbreaking and enraging stories of the survivors, who experienced abuse at the hands of Dr. Blaine McGraw at Fort Hood and Tripler Army Medical Center. Shield of Sisters also joined to share ideas on how to end military sexual trauma. DWC members called for accountability for Dr. McGraw and an immediate correction to any failures in Army procedure. Over 95 women have joined a lawsuit alleging that Dr. McGraw sexually assaulted and harassed them, including secretly recording patients during exams while working at the Fort Hood and Tripler Army Medical Centers. Dr. McGraw was not suspended from his position until October 2025. In December, 58 members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, House Democrats, and Democratic Senators sent a letter to the Department of Defense Inspector General demanding accountability for the Army’s failure to stop widespread sexual misconduct. The DWC will always fight for survivors, servicewomen and their families, and women’s safety. #### |
