Democratic Women’s Caucus Responds to Medication Abortion Court Decision
Washington, DC,

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Chair Lois Frankel (D-FL-22) issued the following statement on the decision in the case Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA, in which Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk has stayed FDA approval of mifepristone—which studies have proven to be safe and effective, and is currently used in over half of abortions. The stay would go into effect in 7 days. “Today, one man, in one district court, issued a decision that ignores 20 years of science and expertise at the FDA in an attempt to block access to mifepristone, a safe and effective form of medication abortion. This decision is not only downright dangerous to the millions of women who could lose access to abortion care without mifepristone—it’s also an attack on the authority of the FDA." ### |
