Today, Friday January 3, the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) celebrated its largest membership ever, 96 Democratic women strong, following the swearing in of the 119th Congress. In December, DWC members elected Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03) to serve as DWC Chair and Rep. Emilia Sykes (OH-13) and Rep. Hillary Scholten (MI-03) to serve as DWC Vice Chairs for the 119th Congress.
Spearheaded by new leadership and strengthened by new members, DWC is ready to fight harder than ever for women and families and against Trump and Republicans’ support for billionaires and extremism.
“The incredible women of the DWC fight every day for women and families. This is the largest DWC ever, 96 strong with 16 wonderful new members. We represent the women of America, because we are the women of America,” said DWC Chair Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03). “Our diverse backgrounds and varied lived experiences shape how we govern and legislate, because we know what our own families have gone through and what their aspirations are. We bring that experience to the table every day as we work to uphold our Commitment to America’s Women: fighting to lower costs, secure economic prosperity, restore reproductive freedom, and protect women against sexual violence and harassment.”
