Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Co-Chairs Congresswomen Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), Jackie Speier (CA-14), and Lois Frankel (FL-21), and Vice Chairs Congresswomen Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) issued the following statement on President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address.
“President Biden and Democrats are Building a Better America and have consistently delivered for women and families when they’ve needed it most this past year. The President’s courage and vision saw us finally focus on issues that impact American families everywhere, from passage of the American Rescue Plan with its historic investments in the Child Tax Credit to passage of legislation to end forced arbitration of sexual violence and the nomination of the first Black woman to the Supreme Court. And we have no doubt that President Biden and Vice President Harris will continue to build on these incredible achievements in the year ahead, particularly in regard to crucial kitchen table issues such as the state of our child care industry and the need for investments in maternal health equity, home care, and paid family and medical leave,” said the Members. “Tonight, the President reaffirmed his commitment to building a strong and inclusive future for our country, and we look forward to the work ahead to ensure all women everywhere can thrive with dignity.”
