Democratic Women’s Caucus Statement on the Passing of DWC member Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee

Washington D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Chair Lois Frankel issued the following statement on the passing of DWC member Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. 

“Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was a fierce, committed, and passionate leader, and an indispensable member of the Democratic Women’s Caucus. She proudly served her constituents for over 30 years and was beloved by her Houston community. She will be remembered for her advocacy for women and children, racial justice, criminal justice, and human rights. 

Our hearts go out to Rep. Jackson Lee’s family, friends, staff, the constituents of the 18^th congressional district of Texas, and the many other communities mourning her passing. May her memory be a blessing.”
