Democratic Women’s Caucus Statement on House Passage of the Protecting Our Kids Act

Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Co-Chairs Congresswomen Lois Frankel (FL-21), Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), and Jackie Speier (CA-14), and Vice Chairs Congresswomen Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), issued the following statement on the House passage of H.R. 7910, the Protecting Our Kids Act.
"From Buffalo to Uvalde, to the cities and towns that don’t make headlines, gun violence has ravaged communities across the nation,” said the Members. “Families need a solution now that tackles the root of gun violence that has taken the lives of nearly 700 children just this year. Democrats delivered by passing legislation today that will address many of the loopholes that allow guns to fall into the wrong hands. We urge the Senate to immediately vote on the Protecting Our Kids Act, which will save lives and help put an end to the gun violence epidemic.”
H.R. 7910 passed the House of Representatives on June 8, 2022, by a vote of 223-204.
