Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus Co-Chairs Congresswomen Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), Jackie Speier (CA-14), and Lois Frankel (FL-21), and Vice Chairs Congresswomen Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) issued the following statement on Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the United States Supreme Court.

“We are proud to witness today’s historic bipartisan confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court,” said the Members. “As the first Black woman to be nominated and confirmed, Judge Jackson brings long overdue representation to the bench. Her grace and eloquence under fire during her confirmation hearings shows she has the kind of logical, even-tempered judicial temperament needed to settle our country’s most pressing legal quandaries. And with her masterful knowledge of the law and extensive legal experience, we have no doubt that Judge Jackson will be a defender of the constitutional rights and freedoms for women and all Americans.”
