Washington D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Chair Lois Frankel (FL-22) issued the following statement on the Biden-Harris Administration's new executive actions to address gender-based violence in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

“Since then-Senator Joe Biden’s Violence Against Women Act was signed into law 30 years ago, our country has made significant progress to protect women and girls from gender-based violence,” said Chair Lois Frankel (FL-22). “We are glad to see President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, take bold new actions to further prevent violence and support survivors. We will keep fighting until all women and girls are protected.”

This week, in honor of the anniversary of VAWA, the DWC led a press call on the progress made through VAWA thus far and the work that remains to protect women and girls from gender-based violence. DWC also hosted a roundtable on the rise of nonconsensual, sexually explicit deepfake pornography which marks a new era of violence against women.
