Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Co-Chairs Congresswomen Lois Frankel (FL-21), Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), and Jackie Speier (CA-14) and Vice Chairs Congresswomen Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) issued the following statement on the 49th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
“The constitutional right to an abortion was affirmed by the Supreme Court 49 years ago, yet Republicans across the nation continue to violate this fundamental right through their brazen attacks on women’s health care,” said the Members. “All individuals—regardless of race, gender, or income— should have the freedom to make personal decisions around pregnancy and parenthood with those they love and trust. We remain committed to enacting the House-passed Women’s Health Protection Act so that this basic right and health care decision is guaranteed for all pregnant people in this country.”
