Democratic Women’s Caucus Endorses Julie Su to Lead DOL, Urges Confirmation Without Delay

May 5, 2023

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) endorsed the nomination of Julie Su to serve as Secretary of Labor and urged the Senate to confirm her without delay.

If confirmed, Su would be the first AAPI official—and first AAPI woman—to serve as a Cabinet Secretary in the Biden Administration. Of the 15 Secretary-level Cabinet members, currently only 5 of them are women. If confirmed, Su would bring that number one step closer to gender parity.

“Julie Su has spent her career fighting to protect workers’ rights, and she understands that supporting working women will help build a stronger, more fair economy for everyone. She’s a champion for women, and the Democratic Women’s Caucus is proud to endorse her nomination,” said DWC Chair Frankel.

“If confirmed, Julie Su’s confirmation would also represent another step towards achieving gender parity among the Secretaries on the President’s Cabinet. We urge our colleagues in the Senate to confirm her without delay.”
