Democratic Women’s Caucus Cheers President Biden’s Budget: “When Women Succeed, Our Country Succeeds”
Washington, D.C. – Today, the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Chair Lois Frankel (FL-22) issued the following statement on the President’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2024 (FY24), which includes critical investments in child care, universal prekindergarten, maternal health, paid leave, and women’s health initiatives. The President’s Budget also does not include the Hyde Amendment—a harmful federal abortion coverage restriction for those who use government-sponsored plans for their health care.
“When women succeed, our country succeeds—and the President’s proposed budget reflects that and puts people over politics,” said DWC Chair Lois Frankel. “To deliver for women, we need to build an economy that actually works for working families and ensure that women can access the health care they need. The Democratic Women’s Caucus is glad to see that the President understands this and has included historic investments in our child care, pre-k, paid leave, maternal health, the child tax credit, and family planning programs in his budget.
“The Democratic Women’s Caucus is 94 members strong and we will be pushing our hardest to get these investments across the finish line,” continued Chair Frankel.
