Democratic Women’s Caucus Chair Slams Republicans’ Failure to Release Epstein Files, Support Survivors
WASHINGTON, D.C. —Monday, July 14, during the Rules Committee, Democratic Women’s Caucus Chair Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03) slammed Republicans’ failure to release the Epstein files. Making the files public would provide critical information on the abuse of women and children and give survivors the justice they’ve long been denied. Today on the House floor, Democrats voted to release the information, while once again, Republicans voted against the release.
Chair Leger Fernández spoke on the importance of letting the truth come out in her Rules remarks: “The Epstein files contain information on the abuse of women and abuse of children. As the Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, you often see me raising these issues related to women and children. We need to address this. Republicans and the MAGA world have also said they want to know about this. Your constituents want to know. So, the question is, why are they not just releasing them? ... Is there anything that needs to be hidden? If not, then vote to release the files… Every Republican on this committee should be able to easily vote yes.”
