Democratic Women’s Caucus Blasts Republicans’ H.R. 5: “The Opposite of What Moms, Teachers, and Kids Want”

Washington D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Chair Lois Frankel (FL-22) issued the following statement on House Republicans’ H.R. 5, which they plan to bring to the floor for a final vote this week.

“Let’s be really clear here: H.R. 5 drags parents, kids and teachers into an extreme culture war that’s causing real harm, and the Democratic Women’s Caucus won’t stand for it,” said DWC Chair Lois Frankel.

“This is the opposite of what moms, teachers, and students really want. No parent wants their kids’ education to be ground-zero for Republicans’ political games. They just want their kids to feel safe at school, and get a quality education where they can read and learn about the world they live in. They want teachers to get the support and pay they deserve. And they want more time to help with homework, make it to parent-teacher meetings, and be involved at school. We’ve got a lot of ideas to make this reality—like giving teachers raises, investing in education and child care, and common-sense gun reform and more—and the Democratic Women’s Caucus will never stop fighting to deliver.”
