Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Chair Lois Frankel (D-FL-22) issued the following statement on Secretary Gina Raimondo’s announcement that the Department of Commerce will be requiring chip manufacturers that receive federal funding to outline how they plan to provide affordable child care for workers.

“Secretary Raimondo is exactly right: for our chip workforce to succeed–and include highly-skilled women in its ranks–they need access to quality, affordable child care,” said DWC Chair Lois Frankel.

“Right now, for so many working parents, child care is simply too expensive or impossible to find. That’s why, at every opportunity, Democrats are pushing to make progress on child care, and that’s what Secretary Raimondo and the Biden-Harris Administration have done with this announcement. This is an important step forward, and we remain committed to securing the big, bold change we need so that every family can afford child care, and every child care worker is paid a living wage.”
